Well my driveshaft has quite a bit of play in it, which leads me to believe my u-joints are going bad. So time has come to replace that bad boy, any recommendations on where to get a rebuilt driveshaft for a 1991 318iS?

I bought mine from Mesa Performance in California: www.mesaperformance.com/. $340+$100 core. Very impressed with the product, well packed and arrived in about 3 days.

Those diff bolts can be mother. For some reason a regular wrench kept slipping. I ended up sticking a big crescent wrench on there, then putting the end of the handle on the lift pad of my jack and jacking upwards to turn the nut. Ugly, but it works like a charm.

I've used these people before:

www.wholesaleimportpar...Driveshaft

It's not local but they shipped it fast, and you can send back a core to get some money back.

Rasheed is right, the diff bolts and guibo/flex disk bolts can be a pain depending on the car. Get new nuts and a guibo/flex disk when you install the new driveshaft. You don't have to get new bolts, but again might as well. It's the self locking nuts that wear faster though.

Agreed on new nuts and bolts. You need 10 nuts and 6 bolts (the diff side uses studs, they'll come on the new shaft). Get them from Pelican Parts, local dealers don't regularly stock them.

Where ever you buy from, make sure the center support bearing/mount is included and pre-installed. You don't want to have to deal with that.

I can give you a hand, I've got a pretty solid method for doing it without dropping the exhaust. It would have to be either this weekend or between the 16th and 19th of this month.

PS. There's no way a 325e driveshaft is going to fit your car.

Well dammit, are you sure? Looks like I'll have to source one somewhere else then. But yeah any help would be great, cause I have no clue what I'm doing as this is a first.

Yep, especially if the driveshaft in question is from the car Andre has that I sold him. I think it was one of the "big" driveshafts, meaning way bigger guibo, csb, and the holes on the front of it are farther apart. Your tranny is smaller and shorter too.
