Welcome. Don't be afraid to fill in your location and show us a couple photos of your E39.

Lol yea I love it! Though I think I need to redo it with a smaller muffler the current 3.5"in/out seems to breathe too much

I'm also in East Mesa, and I also have an E39 540i. I've been going back and forth on what to do with my stock exhaust. Perhaps I can meet up with you sometime and see how yours sounds.

Welcome, John! Show us your car (upload to photobucket or whatever then link)!

EvoE46, as a (biased) prior owner of an E39 540i/6, take a Sawzall to the rear cans and weld a 3" dump pipe out the back.

You know... I've read this same thing several times on the forums. I'm hesitant to do that cause it just seems so... "ghetto" for lack of a better word. I suppose if I don't like it, I can purchase, something, and then cut out the section of pipe that was welded in.

My car is the M-Sport so it has the exposed exhaust tip. So I would at least want to keep that.

It does seem ghetto but if you took some time to route some exhaust piping out of the back it could look good.

I bought Craig's e39 540i/6 when he put it for sale. A simple muffler delete does sound really good! If you aren't happy just buy flowmasters, which also sound awesome!

Here a video of car:
