Hi,

I am having trouble breaking free the 18mm bolt in order to separate the drive shaft and access the CSB. The bolt is just stuck or frozen. Any tips, suggestions are welcome.

soak it in pb blaster?

what are you using to break it free? breaker and pipe or impact?

i can't really put a socket in there i am using an open wrench and trying to hold drive shaft from moving as a try to break it free.

Looking at realoem, my car is a 5/96 production, till 1/97 they used 1457 MM drive shaft, and from 1/97 on moved to 1521 MM. Is this the length of the drive shaft?

Would a drive shaft from other years fit mine, as long as its automatic type?

buy a vise from Harbor freight for 40 bucks and clamp the driveshaft in that. use the box end of the wrench. patience young paduon.

Like Austin said, and if I were you I would soak the nut with some pb blast or bg in-force (both work great!). Let that sit for some time. Since the bolt is stripped I recommend you go buy a set of these: www.sears.com/craftsma...52166000P. Make sure the teeth of the tool grab on to the bolt before applying extreme force. I recommend you ask someone or come up with a way to hold the driveshaft in place. You can use either a big breaker bar, cheater bar, or impact...hope it breaks loose!

Until you can hold the driveshaft stationary, you're not going to accomplish anything. I think the old system was better, but I haven't heard anyone really complain about that bolt.

I'll give it a shot with a torch gun in vise and see how it goes. Thanks for the tips.

Update: After torching, pb soaking and beating the crap out of the bolt, it is out, driveshaft is separated Very Happy

Need to order a new bolt and washer, Camelback dealer doesn't stock it, although seems like both were commonly used in various chassis. Anybody have them by any chance

Wow, you made a mess of this.

I dunno where to get a new one but maybe buy a junk shaft and take it out of there.

One of the bolts on the exhaust/muffler clamp snapped, thing was pretty cooked up from the heat and rust. Is the bolt it self replaceable or I have to look for the whole clamp?
