Post subject: Alternator rebuild

(2004 545i) - Hi I was wondering if any one knows a local shop were i can take my alternator to have it rebuild. Recently i ordered the replacement through carparts.com they said they would have it shipped within 5-9 business days. The part cost me 146 dollars which wasn't bad compared to 300 to 450 for rebuild alternator at local shops, so i placed the order to save a few bucks but it turned out the part was on back order, and they didn't notify me until a week had passed and it annoyed me but it is what it is so here i am posting and searching in order to save some few dollars other wise I guess i'll pay the 300-450 for the rebuild one which is ridiculous in my opinion when it only takes about 50 bucks to buy the parts to rebuild it -__- i understand if it's a new one but a rebuild one k'mon guys! oh well......... thanks for hearing me out now i'll go shoot my self...... hahahaha

Check out Copperstate alternator exchange. They're on I think McDowell and 26th ave. they'll rebuild or exchange depending on what's in stock. My dad has been using them since the 90s. They rebuilt my starter and alternator on my e36 and they looked brand new. I also have their rebuilt units in my jeep and all have been running great.

Yeah I went to copper state and they had a great deal. I dropped off this morning and 2 hours later they told me one of the parts was on back order so now I have to pick it up in the morning and just buy the one from Napa its 244 but I wanted to save more money. The guys there are friendly though Smile
