Post subject: horrible brake noise

Alright guys well I finally got the front suspension rebuilt on the e24 but now there's an awful noise coming from the passengers rear brake. I pulled it all apart and there's no signs of rubbing anywhere but one of the parking brake pads looked a bit like it could be rubbing so I tightened the star adjuster but the noise is still there. Any ideas? I'm totally stumped right now.

Is it coming from the rear brake or rear brake area?? You don't describe the noise. Could it be a bad wheel bearing??

That's what I was thinking, or a bent/loose dust shield rubbing on the rotor.

More info is needed.

Or a stuck caliper or a bad master cylinder which on these cars can cause a piston in a caliper to lock up.

I was thinking it could be a wheel bearing but it only started after I was working on my car and the parking brake was on. Other than that I don't use it because its an auto (unfortunately). The noise sounds just like when you are turning a rotor but not as loud which leads me to think that its something rubbing on the brake. I thought it was the dust guard too but there is absolutely no sign of rubbing on the dust cover.

if its nothing visible and youve check ed everything even rotor runout, then its more than likely the bearing.

Actually I have decided that it is in fact, the parking brake. For some reason it won't disengage fully and is barely rubbing the drum
