Wait a sec - so the dealer forces you into another car because it's more cost effective for them? Or, did you have a choice to fix the 530 and you just chose another route?

I bought most of my Meyle HD suspension pieces from OEMbimmerparts.com.

Autohaus doesn't make sense anymore with shipping and tax - plus their prices were higher than a lot of other places.

Still sounds like a shady deal.

window regulators... horrible design. if and when they go bad spend the few extra bucks on the oem ones. after market regulaters for these cars is trash. check out the oil seperator hoses.. if they havent been done yet they will need to be soon. the e46 was an all around good car. the e39 though i think trumps it.

I saw the car was leaving some oil spots on the ground and followed it up to the oil filter housing. Is this a common problem for them to leak?

As Kohler has stated, its a common leak. Not too bad to change out if you have basic mechanical skills. Gasket is about ~$10 range.

biggest pain in the ass is that the accessories all mount to that housing and must come off to change the gasket, after that, its 6 bolts.....
