never seen this I torqued it to spec when i replaced the diff and everything and the 6 bolts that hold the axle to the differential flange worked their way loose and the axle flange fell off the diff while driving.
has anyone ever heard of anything like this happening before?

I've seen the bolts work their way out before, but never the flange falling off the diff. You should use some loctite on them bolts, But not red.

so its fixed? now we'll never know if it was the flange or the axle that fell off.

Did you follow the torque pattern? Torque wrench calibration off?

Also if they were one time use bolts, torqueing to spec wont be very tight. Loctite is a good idea.

the flange did not come out of the diff, the axle flange with the six inside cv axle flange bolts backed all six loose from the diff flange.

they were definitely torqued to spec in a criss cross or star pattern whatever you call it.

Well then they obviously werent torqued properly to the german spec.

figured i would state the outcome since I'm always getting annoyed when people state a problem and drop off the face of the earth...kinda like I did... so

one the cages in the innner cv rzeppa joint actually chipped which made the ball go all wonky and vibrate in the inside cv and the vibrations, aided by my condor solid bushings, worked the flange bolts on both sides loose as none of them were lock-tite-ed...

new axles, new bolts, yay more new material to strip, and locktite and sha zam all better

side note: rzeppa's are a bitch if the balls get out and you have to reassemble them

Loctite is always good.

I had a problem with this on welded diffs. I didn't want to loctite them in because i was changing gearing for different track set ups. Best luck I had was with new bolts (slightly longer and lock washers. Just my .2c
