Post subject: Best place for a full car detail?

I'm looking for a cleaning, clay bar, wax, the works, interior and exterior. Where can I go that I can trust and how much will it be?

Thanks

Post subject: Re: Best place for a full car detail?

A friend of mine used a place, for his Buckingham Blue Range Rover, up in North Scottsdale that he liked, though he said that they did not do his front grille to his satisfaction.

I believe that it may have been Special Touch Auto Detailing. Wherever it was, they gave him an SL500 loaner, of which I made fun of him for.

Pricing is going to vary heavily and I would focus more on finding a place that utilizes the proper tools and quality products. A baseline for pricing would be to expect to pay between $325 and $500 for a good job, depending upon the extent of paint correction needed and services desired. Price goes up, significantly, if you have neglected paint needing 20+ hrs of correction work.

Also, be sure to get references, ask how they determine the condition of your paint (they should be using a paint thickness gauge to ensure they know where paintwork has been done and is inconsistent in thickness or too low) and look at a few non-metallic black cars that they've done. This is very important because you don't want some dude just running a high-speed buffer across your paint with crap glaze to cover the marring and clear coat he burned in the process.

Me? I am the only to touch my cars and my wife always jokes that if you want your car detailed to just park in front of our house for more than an hour. haha.

If DIY is your thing, then check out my 2000 M5 restoration thread HERE for my quick rundown of the correction job and some good products. Any questions then please do not hesitate to send me a message.

With all of that said, I occasionally will take-on detailing jobs, depending upon time, weather and if I think that my wife will stab me for doing so. If memory serves, wasn't there someone doing full-time detailing on here? I want to say it was Petrucci (brings back fond memories of listening to Dream Theater when I was younger)?

Anyway, good luck!

Adam

I just need someone that does the undercarriage steam clean. Had it done on one car in California and the amount of time it has saved me was amazing.

These guys do nice work: Pit Stop
I've been there to see my neighbor's 348 Spider get the works.
Scottsdale, just west of airport.
