Post subject: C5 Corvette Z06

In November I flew out to Sacramento to pick up this Black on Black 2002 C5 Z06 with 22,000 miles on it. It was a long drive back but I crossed the upper California desert and got to drive some truly amazing mountain roads in a new to me vehicle with 625bhp and 8 year old tires mounted backwards. It was a fun and slightly puckering experience.

I bought the car to drive and track, and that is exactly what I have done so far. I've placed roughly 3k miles and two HPDE weekends on it in the past few months. The car is an absolute blast to drive.

The car comes heavily modified from the original owner having a blower cam, upgraded valve springs and hardened pushrods installed to support the ProCharger blower kit. In addition the transmission has also been built to support the 535whp and 475wtq. The car also has fully adjustable coil overs. I felt it needed a few things addressed so I purchased non chromed OE C5z wheels, +1 size Nitto NT05's, installed poly suspension bushings front and rear and installed a Wilwood SL6R big brake kit up front.

I must say, driving this car is an absolute blast. Power is on tap at all times and it handles very well and gives amazing feedback. All in all, this ranks towards the top as one of the top five cars I've ever owned.

Thanks Austin!

Really isn't much of a comparison. The E30 would let you drive it harder and was surprisingly forgiving in retrospect. The Z06 is a lunatic that has to babied out of all the corners as the throttle response is crisp, power delivery is quick and even with warmed up 295's that rear end will swing right around.

I will continue to work on being faster in the turns. Straight line stuff is silly. The builder says it should be a 10sec car no problem.

Belt was an easy fix. Note to self, keep an extra belt and a 13mm box wrench available at all times Wink
