Post subject: ///M Guys, what do you pay for insurance?

Anybody can answer but I'm mostly interested in the E46 guys. I have a 2003 with 116K miles, 32 years old, non-married, home owner, clean driving record, etc.

I called to get a quote on a 2010 Ford GT500 or Saleen S281SC. I got rates ranging from $20-$50 CHEAPER than what I'm paying on my 2003 BMW with much less horsepower and a higher safety rating. WTF

I pay about $380/6mo and was quoted $360 for the GT500 and $330 for the Saleen.

What are you guys dishing out for coverage? I don't need to know your guys specific coverages or anything, just wondering if I'm getting severly hosed over by my insurance company? BTW I have All-State.

Unfortunately, without knowing the specific coverages (maximums & deductibles) you aren't really going to be able to get a good comparison. There is going to be a sizable difference in the premium between a $250 deductible and a $1,000 deductible.

For my '11 M3 sedan I pay about $660 per 6 months ($110 per month). Max coverages and high deductibles ($1,000). Married, 36 years old, multi everything line discount.

I go through State Farm and they insure my company as well so there are additional discounts involved. By the way, I used to be with Farmers when I had my '03 M3 and then '09 Lexus IS350. I cut my premium in half when I left Farmers to go to State Farm.

You may want to check on your $1000 deductible. When I insured mine it was like a $20/6mo difference between $500 and $1000 so I went with $500.

I'm not really concerned with a good comparison, I just want to know if someone else is insuring their 02-06 M3 for like $200 I want to know who they are with!

USAA tends to be the best insurance company I've worked with, but they're not the cheapest. However, they go above and beyond in service and repair quotes.

Progressive has been the cheapest I've seen for my M3's. It was roughly $110/mo for full coverage, but I'm married and over 25 and have a couple hits on record.

Also, that was with 100k/300k personal/property damage and $500 deduct.

Not a ///M. I use USAA to insure my E38 and E21. $250 ded., full coverage incl. towing and labor, two licensed drivers, NO ACCIDENTS.

$90 a month.

Yep, comparisons may be difficult. As to why the differences you're seeing? Convertible versus coupe, and American versus European car. It's all about historical crash statistics. M drivers may be more crash prone, with convertibles being totaled more frequently. Mustang owners, especially higher dollar ones like the GT500, may be more older guys reliving their youth, tucking them away in garages. (Less crash prone.)

When I shopped around for my Cayman S, Progressive was best for me in my situation.

My E36 M3 vert with full coverage, $500 deduct, glass, and towing is $97 a month. That's being 30, single, and home owner.

I can't remember the exact number, but when I had it, my 2008 E92 M3 was cheaper to insure than my E36 M3 is now. I believe it was $75 a month, I have no idea why it was cheaper.
